Maths

I am a patient and friendly tutor with a strong passion for sharing my love of maths. I have a first class BSc (Hons) degree in Maths and Statistics with European Studies (French) from the University of Sussex.

The majority of my career to date has been in the financial services sector – working for top blue-chip companies for 15 years – before returning to my first love: maths!

I have been tutoring group online maths lessons for a charity which partners with schools nationwide to bridge the attainment gap for students who face disadvantages. I am an Associate member of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.

My lessons are at a pace that allows pupils to reinforce their knowledge of fundamental aspects of maths, as well as progress to more advanced concepts. I allow time for pupils to work independently in order to gain the satisfaction of achieving results by themselves whilst being supported by the necessary level of guidance and direction. I provide lots of praise to motivate pupils and boost students’ confidence. I provide a clear structure to each lesson, taking a set format to create familiarity for students. My lessons are a mix of reflection on previous learning, skills practice/linking topics, reasoning skills/exam style questions, brain teasers and plenary.

I am keen to share my passion for maths and help students to understand the practical applications of maths concepts by incorporating real life examples. This helps to enhance a student’s maths learning journey with greater engagement and motivation from the students.
