I am a qualified teacher with a PGCE in Secondary School English and I have worked with young people in different capacities, for over 15 years now.
In this time, I have come see that you cannot promote academic excellence without providing holistic care for a student. For this reason, I take a very pastoral approach to my tutees. I love to ask the question: ‘how can I help?’ As a qualified English teacher, I come with a wealth of experience and resources that I will use to help students meet and exceed their expectations. Having worked with students with varying SEN and SEHM, I have developed different ways of engaging students with different capabilities, through differentiation. All students can learn, they just need to be able to access the lesson.
One of the most common issues students have with English, is the inability clearly write and express their fantastic and insightful analyses. Because of this, I like to spend a lot of time – particularly with my GCSE students – practicing analysis and essay writing. I am confident that with a tailored approach, all students can excel in English
