I am currently studying Medicine at the University of Manchester which has encouraged me to find different ways of learning and understanding new concepts. During my GCSEs and A-levels, having achieved 7-9s and As/A*s respectively, I found that explaining concepts to my peers helped me develop a through understanding of the subjects I was trying to learn and I had to come up with new, diverse ways to explain things, challenging both my understanding of the subject and my teaching methods. I believe the best way to do well in exams is to understand the specification, by practicing as many exam questions as possible but also to consolidate this understanding by seeing how well you can explain it to someone else. This is something I incorporate into sessions any time I explain anything to a peer or student, allowing them to feel confident in their learning going forward.
