English

I am a graduate from the University of York with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. Here I gained extensive Journalism experience as the Food and Drink editor of the award-winning University paper ‘Nouse’. This was complemented by playwrighting I did during my second year, resulting in me having my own short play performed in a professional Theatre.

Prior to this, I achieved an A* at English Literature A-Level and came top three in my year group for my results. Since 2018, I have gained experience tutoring English Literature from KS3 Level up until KS5 level, both prior to and during lockdown. I find it vital to ensure that each child is given the time to help develop their understanding of a topic or concept. I therefore like to ensure that they can input as much as possible during lessons and not feel hesitant to ask for further support. This means catering to each child individually and ensuring that they are attended to in a way that best suits their learning.

In 2019, I spent several months teaching English as a secondary language in Seville, Spain with a range of students from young children to adults. This was followed up with working in SEN schools in 2020 as a Science based teaching-assistant. Additionally, I have professional theatre-based training and experience which has developed my understanding of Classical Literature and Modern Plays. This has come in the form of accredited Drama School Training and professional stage experience as an actor.
